When I started this business I jumped in without a plan. Let me tell you it's a good idea to have a name of some kind before you start. I signed up with Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter you name it (ha!). The problem was that I signed in with a different name everywhere I went. Some places my name was too long other places it was already taken. Yikes! So, today I have been trying to get somewhat close in my branding (so to speak). The thing is it created a "domino effect" on every site. So I will apologize right now if a link isn't working. Thanks for your patience. I know first hand that it's hard to curb the excitement of a new adventure, but if you can... take my advice and find your brand first! That's all for now. I have some link work to do.
I know I should be very happy about the snow today...and I really am. We need it here in California after a few years of drought. I will just have to be patient for my photo shoot. I have a few new shop items to post. I like to shoot outdoors because the lighting is so much better. It's amazing though, after Easter dinner yesterday we took a nice walk along the river and the ground was completely dry. Then today as it happens here in the mountains we received quite a few inches of snow. Beautiful spring weather and spring skiing. Here are a few of my most recent medicine bags.
My husband and I took an inspiring trip to Montana and Idaho. I stopped by Bathing Beauties Beads in Missoula, Montana and Moccasin Flats Trading Post in Lapwai, Idaho. There are so many talented artists out there. Yes, I picked up a few beads. On the way home we stopped and bought huckleberry jam along the river. And guess what...they had agates for sale. So my goal this month will be to focus. I have so many things I want to make from bass bow quivers to seed bead earrings. So I'll get back to my passion and I hope you have a Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I hope your holidays were special. Mine flew by even faster than usual. I was very busy, as most people are, from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day. I'm looking forward to settling down now and getting back to my beads and leather creations. Stay tuned and be sure to visit my Etsy shop to see my new designs.
I just took a trip down memory lane. Wow, it is amazing how many pieces of beads and leatherwork I have actually made. I was looking through my pictures from last year and the year before. Thank goodness I took them. They are definitely a little kick of inspiration. Now looking onward...
Winter Pop Up Shop Officially Open! Had fun on Tuesday at Lala Jewelry's Pop Up Shop. Honored to have some of my Vicki Charles Beads and Leather in the shop with Lala Jewelry and Ryan Salm Photography. 521 N Lake Blvd, Tahoe City (next to Zia Lina, formerly Tahoe City Kayak). Yay! Come see us!
Brrr. It's cold outside. A great opportunity to get inside, warm up with a nice fire and begin creating! That's what I love about winter. Well, I guess it is actually still fall. Feels like winter. I have been so busy...my artist friend, Veronica Lichter ( www.veronicalichterart.com ) and I had a fun holiday open house this week. She is an awesome painter and sketch artist. We were overjoyed with a full house of family, friends and music! The positive response to our products was overwhelming. It was so inspiring for me. Just what I needed to move into the holiday season. Looking so forward to the next 6 weeks. Until next time...Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Last month I relaxed on the beach in Costa Rica beading everyday while watching the waves come in. Now, I'm looking forward to summer activities at home and getting outside to enjoy our sunshine. I love taking my leather and beadwork out on the deck. My work space turns into a nice new refreshing view! I am one very lucky lady! Pura Vida.
The warmer weather has inspired me! I'm so happy too because I can go outside and take pictures of my finished products. Please visit my Etsy store for new listings.
It's the holiday season and so exciting! This year I have many items ready to sell. Sometimes I have to stop, take a deep breath, and relax. In the last month I managed to start a website, set up pinterest, instagram, twitter and facebook. Oh... I also have a new postal scale! I can buy postage and ship from home. This step was huge for me. No more standing in line! I listen to podcasts (when I'm working at my "real job") on social media marketing and small businesses, etc. I can't believe how much I've learned and how much more there is to learn! Now back to crafting! Happy Holidays!
